Here is a great pair of collector plates commemorating the 1956 classic The King and I. Nominated for 9 Academy awards and winning 5, including Best Actor for Yule Brunner, this was one of the best musical productions of the decade. This pair of plates honors two memorable scenes from that classic blockbuster movie.
The plate showing the King dancing with Anna celebrates the “Shall We Dance” episode, one of the most memorable scenes of the production. Here they dance around the floor in exuberating enthusiasm, Anna dressed in a beautiful gown and the King in all his regal dancing style. This episode begins to play on the attraction that is just beginning to happen between them.
The second plate commemorates the “Getting to Know You” segment where Anna becomes closer to the king’s children, who are also her students. In this memorable song Anna explores what it is like to really know and understand the joys people have when they first meet. This is probably the second most memorable song from the movie.
Both plates are original and in mint condition. They will be packed carefully in fully padded boxes ready to be shipped to your door. These are wonderful plates but do not come with original boxes or certificates. Please look at all detailed photos and see how wonderful these two plates really are, free from flaws, cracks or unwanted gifts from Burma. Why you wouldn’t want these in your collection is a puzzlement. Enjoy!
