Disney Cartoon Sketch Original.Character Model Dept 1930's Mickey Mouse

Here we have a Futurist Mickey Mouse character coming out of the page at us in this cartoon sketch from the Character Model Department of Disney Studios.  This is interesting because it allows us to see the development of the character that we so often take for granted.  In this case there is a note about the placement of a “soft cap” over the eyes:in this case the pie eyes that were introduced in 1929.  Here we get a glance into the delicate strokes of the graphite that moulded Mickey’s character.  The page showing from behind the frame is 8 x 12″.  See Images of  official specs from the department: year ’37, Okay by X, Character Model Dept. Number…… Model Sheets Subject to Recall Without Notice C. W.D.P.  There is an arrow pointing to the cap on Mickey’s head with a notation Soft Cap Over Eyes “GaG” and then another copyright W. D. P. at the bottom of the page.
There is a place that it looks like some scotch tape was removed leaving a spot.  Also the paper has some wrinkles: this page is 84 years old…
